I provide Psychological Testing for people 18 years and older.
Psychological Testing involves administering, scoring, and interpreting tests and measures to better understand how a person’s mind works.
Test results, as well as information gathered from other sources (e.g., clinical interview, family meeting), are integrated to identify strengths and weaknesses, make diagnoses, offer recommendations, and come to a fuller understanding of the person.
Testing can be especially helpful when there is a lot of diagnostic complexity or uncertainty, or when a person is feeling stuck in their psychotherapy.
At the conclusion of testing, a Psychological Assessment Report is provided, which can be shared with your psychotherapist, doctor, or school.
Many health insurance plans cover Psychological Testing. I am in-network with Aetna, BCBS, and UnitedHealthcare/Optum. Prior to scheduling an appointment, it is recommended you check with your insurance to confirm that Psychological Testing is covered and whether a referral or preauthorization is required.
The purpose of personality assessment is to understand personality functioning, to identify maladaptive traits, to make recommendations, and to provide “food for thought” for psychotherapy.
Personality assessment always involves a comprehensive interview, often taking place over several appointments.
Personality Testing is often part of the assessment process and involves completing tests, questionnaires, and performance-based measures (i.e., procedures in which are asked to perform a specific task, e.g., describing what you see in an image) to help the psychologist better understand how your mind works.
